India recorded 152,734 Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). Since April 13,2021 it has been the lowest daily count in the last 48 days. Maharashtra CM Udhav Thackeray has extended restrictions imposed in the state by 15 days i.e. till 15th June. Though the restrictions will not be that strict. Relaxation to essentials shops now be open from 7am to 2pm. CM Thackeray added “the relaxations are district wise”.

Mr. Thackeray said “if the state is hit by a more severe third wave of Covid infections, it may face a crisis of medical oxygen”. He said “I don’t know when the third wave will hit us and how bad it will be. So we cannot let our guard down” He also said ” the third wave might infect kids. But one should not worry as experts say they have more immunity. But if they get infected, it will be through us. So we have to take care of that.”

Mr. Thackeray said “some plans are being made for students so that they could study and complete their academic year without any obstacles”.

With respect to vaccination concerns he said ” 6 crore people fall under the 18-44 age group and there are limitations as far as production and availability of vaccines are concerned. ” 

While addressing the general public of Maharashtra he also spoke about the Tauktae cyclone that recently hit our nation. “Tauktea was a very dangerous cyclone. It didn’t damage us that much, though Gujarat, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg saw most of the damage and downfall of it”.
